I don't see how you can do anything but 3NT. You are the one with hearts stopped, and you have a source of tricks. Partner could have a lot less than what he needs to bid 3 and you would be making most of the time - as little as xx xx Axxxxxx Kx is good enough (assuming you score a major suit king) unless the opps can cross to one major suit ace (most likely spades) to lead through your other major suit holding.

Of course, partner could also have full values and you could have very little play - Jxx Axx KQJTxx x.

Still, I think you have to bid 3NT on these cards.

pass of course. big misfit and we don't make 3NT because of cardiac insufficiency.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

Funny quip, but I'd be more afraid of how I set up/access my 2 long suits.

FREQUENCY!!!!

AKA... I'm not sure. It's not like we bring a lot to the table in a diamond contract either. Maybe they both make/go down. Although 3 would probably be down less in the latter case.

I'd probably bid 3NT.

I thought of 4. 3NT is ugly when partner's HCPs are in diamonds and at most a Q outside (no entry).

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Pass

I have had partners tell me I am too much of a glass half empty bidder, but anyone who thinks 3N has much chance must see every glass as brimming to the point of overflowing.

And it's not as if 3 automatically fails by as much or nearly as much as 3N. Give partner a normal invitational-with-a-good suit hand (say xxx Jxx AKQ10xx x) hand and see how many tricks you make in 3N on a marked heart lead, compared to diamonds.

well the two are related (the more stops we have the more setting up long suits we afford) but only mine has an awesome quip :D

Assuming 3D is invitational based on 6 decent D I hope dear partner is able to make maybe 7 tricks. As for 3N, I believe 3N is ridiculous and most days will have little chance to make. it similar to a first seat 3 bid and bidding 3N with a void because you thought you had a good hand.
