Oft repeated scenario - GIBBO will pass and if you open your mouth will take you skyward. Not exactly applicable in this case.
Shaking and trembling started when the 3H came back to me. 3S blurb was 18+HCP. I said screw this and bid 3S. You can see the outcome.
I have no clue what GIBBO double of 3H would be or even if GIBBO bids 4H.

9 HCP opposite pard's 1NT and it is petrified and mummified.

Double I think is defined as biddable hearts i.e. penalties and is not a sensible definition on this sequence. Double of both 2h and 3h raises should be takeout IMO.

I think we just want to fix the definition of double here, not merely implore GIB to do something, anything. Forcing GIB to do something other than double can lead to truly ridiculous spots if you have more typical 1nt overcalls. We want GIB to double here, not bid 3nt/4h/3s blindly.

Double sounds good. I think most experts use double to show HCP/values and allow partner to act suitably.

Thus SUIT-1NT-SAMESUIT(2/3/4 level)-DOUBLE shows values.

No people use double as takeout. Yes opener can leave it in.

I didn't realize double on the 3 level is defined as penalty. Clearly that is wrong, thanks for informing us.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

Double at 2 level also penalty, I'd argue that is wrong also.
