I lose a lot when I encounter this combo mage that uses alextrazza followed by face damage, and protects a lot with barrier, ice block and freezing. Is this called freeze mage?

When I go face he ends up healing with alextrazza, when I go slow he obliterates me with flamestrike. Maye I always have bad deck for him.

If you suspect a freeze mage, save healing for when he plays alex.

What are you playing against it ?

For the most part, Freeze Mage is just a strong deck and in the hands of a good player is the favourite vs almost all midrange decks. The balancing factor is that the deck is literally 10% vs Control Warrior (they just gain armor every turn).

The best way to defeat them is early board pressure combined with removal/silence for Doomsayer when they combo it with Frost Nova. Kezan Mystic is also an extremely potent tech card and allows you to steal ice-block and then kill them in one turn.

Except for warriors, who plan to fatigue the freeze mage, you should generally be pressuring the freeze mage as much as possible. The goal is to pop their ice block before they have time to set up a 2-3 turn kill.

What do people make of the WSC nerf? It's going to make the card and the patron deck completely unplayable, which is really not what the game needs right now. In addition the fact they've made a basic card completely useless must be particularly harrowing for new/F2P players.

Given Ben Brode's rather poor explanation (https://www.youtube....h?v=PprkXykU5xM - "we don't want to touch the stats as that's the soul of the card" [paraphrased]) I'm beginning to think there is actually some truth in the "Blizzard only care about the money" conspiracy theories... :/

I think his explanation was fine.

My TL;DR summary was:

1) Making a card that gives charge to any minion was a mistake.
2) We had to remove that ability.
3) We prioritized keeping the theme of the card at the expense of making it unplayable.

At least he mentioned that warrior was the worst arena class!

Should I play my 2/1 at turn one opposite mage in arena? I never know what to do.

It depends mostly on the minion.

Most of the playable X/1s either have a utility ability (eg sergeant, buccaneer, deckhand, archer) in which case you usually hold or are naturally immune/resistant (worgen, argent squire, webspinner) in which case you play.

In a meta with so many play/rogue/mage players, I rate the other X/1s pretty low.

I disagree completely. It depends on your hand, whether you're going first and what your deck is like. I'm often very happy if my opponent wastes their turn 2 kill my one drop - that means I can play an uncontested 2-drop.
If they have to coin to do it, even better. Arena is no longer about value, tempo is much more important. So, if my T2 is ***** (hero power, weak minion) I wouldn't drop the 2/1, but if I can follow up with a 2 and a 3 then I play that sucker out every time.

Obviously Antrax is right. An interesting excercise would be to paste a few interesting situations (along with deck list) to discuss?...

Its arena, there is no "deck", but I find this problem quite often and I don't know what do to. Specially with abusive sargeant, lepper gnome I just put it on the field no matter what.

Perhaps against druid and rogue it might depend on havint taunts later on.

You certainly have a deck in arena. Your strategy depends on your curve, your card quality, your hero power and how much reach you have. Playing priest or paladin, you will usually be the control side of the match-up. Playing rogue or hunter, you will usually be very aggressive.
Leper gnome is an aggressive card. Assuming you drafted it into the right deck, it means your hand will have good curve for the early turns, so dropping it T1 would be awesome. If, on the other hand, you're playing warrior and your hand is leper waraxe yeti, you would pass since you want them to coin something you can axe and leper will smooth the curve later on.

Hurray I hit legend again, playing control warrior.

Next season I'll try either midrange paladin or the new Patron warrior.

Love the concept of this week's tavern brawl, not sure it's balanced, but it's different.

Yeah, I was planning to head here to post the same. I'm guessing they're testing reactions to gauge interest in PvE (player versus environment) as well as co-op, probably for future adventure content.
The result was very cool.

Have 3 or 4 wins out of 12 or so.

Last night partner played millhouse manastorm so I hit it with a 40 point divine shielded critter early (it almost always then draws an assassinate if you get something big), but this was still enough.

One thing I learned. Don't fill your board or it destroys all your critters if there's no room for it, this probably cost another win.

Not a good week to have the "Win X tavern brawls" quest.

New expansion they just announced has some interesting cards.

I played it as priest with a strong paladin ally and we won easily. Maybe there are more beneficial to allies cards in those classes than others.

Just lost when it had 3 HP, he played assasin twice when we were about to win and finally hit me to dead on third attemp.

My awesome pally ally had played blessing and banana AFTER duplicating attack on a minion O_o
