In late September, I exchanged an old cable modem used with Comcast (Xfinity) Cable with a new modem. This new modem also contains a wireless and wired router, so my old Linksys wireless router was no longer needed.
A few weeks later, I used my desktop computer (wired direct ethernet connection with the cable modem/router) to log onto BBO using the old software program (NetBridgeVu.exe) and after almost a full minute, I received the error message that you get when there is no internet connection available. I rebooted the desktop computer, and I was able to log in.
Then earlier this week, the same thing happened, but this time, rebooting the desktop computer didn't help. I tried my laptop computer via wireless Wi-Fi and received the same error message. I also tried using the new web based method of access (http://www.bridgebas...ient/client.php) and it comes up with a “Connection Lost” message at the bottom of the computer screen.
Defeating the firewalls temporarily on the computers and router did not help the problem. I assume that would deal with any ports that needed to be opened, if that could possibly be the problem, although since I can occasionally log in, but far from consistently, that since I can get in sometimes means a port issue is probably not the problem.
I can access webpages outside of bridgebase and I also can access http://www.bridgebas...notconnect.html which is the webpage that comes up when you say "Yes" to the error message asking if you want information on solving the connection problem, but as requested in the “cannotconnect” webpage, I am NOT able to access the “test” webpage http://bridgebase09....e.com/test.txt.
Settings on the router were checked and compared with the old Linksys router and I saw nothing I thought could be the cause of the problem.
Any idea on why I have had this difficulty logging into BBO since obtaining the new Comcast modem/router?

The test page is a dead link, it goes to a server that's out of use for a few years now. Not sure what blocks BBO though, if you say you allowed it in firewall. Ask gerardo@bridgebase.com he's our expert in connectivity issues.
