Sure, but sad for the US. I'd much prefer being able to choose between two responsible candidates. It's not impossible for completely hopeless candidates to be elected.
My own district exemplifies that right now. Our district's borders were changed to include more republican voters and fewer democrats. Super PACs poured in an amazing amount of money (I've never seen anything like it before) to build up the tea party candidate and smear his opponent. It took a couple of days after the election until the result was clear, but the tea party guy won...
