Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

I'm so alergic to splinters from early abuse of same by partners when I started, I don't play them anymore.

A 2 reverse followed by 4 is called for in this style and that's if pard responds a "slow down" 2nt bid. Anything else is a game force and we are in the slam zone so this could work out too.

I would consider 4, but I think 4 is ultimately more descriptive - any honors outside of clubs are useful, any in clubs are not. It also allows for a 4 last train.

you have enough to bid 4h and the 4c bid lets p know
immediately where a lot of your game going value came
from (short clubs). The fact that you bid 4c immediately should
get the idea across that you do not have a ton of power (you
would have chosen reverses or other forcing bids to show power).

The Diamonds aren't solid enough for you to think about 4, so I will splinter with 4 as well. Glad to see there's a few people who know what the auction 1m - 1M ; 4m means.

I like 4D better than many of the other posters do.. but among the 3 listed choices 4C is the standout.

I like the descriptive 4! also ( showing GF values with 4h/6d w/shortness in one of the blacks ) CWNN ( Convention With No Name )....
Only 15 hcp but it's a 5 loser hand with a fit afterall .

Unfortunately, we cannot choose between 4D and 4C. 4 is the same "No name" 4-6, but slammish, not a splinter for us.

So, our choice is between 4D non slammish 4-6 and tucking in with 3 (about 16-18 support points, unbalanced). With XXX AKQX KQJXXX V, 4D would be obvious. With this one, yuk. 3, but close to lying with 4

specting partner to move over 4 when we have AKQ is ridicoulius, we need to make a slam try ourselves.

In established partnerships were we have discussed splinters, yes. It would deny first or second round control of the 4th suit... just what I have here. Sadly, my primary partners who I played this with are not playing (one had a stroke a few years back, the other has stopped playing). My current partner knows the splinter rules, he just forgets them, or overlooks them, from time to time.

Fo most players 4D should show solid/semi solid Ds which you do not have.
I would bid 4C.

I'll join in with those preferring 4 .

The suit isn't good enough for 4 .

You do have a 4 loser hand, but really don't have good honor texture in the pointed suits you hold.

So 4 seems the most descriptive. It also assures you'll get to game which your loser count indicates is right.

If you held something like Axx AKxx AJ10xxx - , you might consider a jump shift to 2 followed by a jump in s.

4 , I think, should be reserved for those flattish 19-20 point mooses where you're bidding game on the powerfulness of your hand.
