1. Definitely clubs. Slam tries are 4 or even 4 (as weird as that sounds).

2. "Best" treatment? IDK, but its probably a self splinter for hearts. Club slam tries start with 3 (then 3N = mild, 4 = come on baby).

3. See above. Surprised you don't know this one.

Well, it wasn't totally obvious that

(a) with the garbage we respond on, a 1426 bust wouldn't want a way to play (< 5) clubs [obviously 3C-3D-3N is a mild slam try with clubs], and
(b) 4D after 2N is not an autosplinter.

If (b) is a splinter, then responder needs (?) a way to show diamonds, so it wasn't totally clear that 4D/3S was a spade cue. [It is clear though that 4H should be, imo]

And if you play 4C/2N is clubs and not G or autosplinter, then you can probably afford to give up 3C-3D-4C as "come on baby." (or you can use direct 4C to play, maybe that makes more sense)

With a very weak 1426 I would probably ignore my four hearts and make a preemptive raise. However, I am sure that there exists a large subset of hands where I would want to try to play 4 instead of 2N. An autosplinter in partners suit would have less utility than a way to get out in 4.

I have all but dropped Gerber in everyone of my partnerships and I like your suggestion that 4 over 2N to be a strong slam suggestion and 3 followed by 4 to be a s/o.

Something to consider would be for opener and/or responder to bid spades on that second round of the auction if they have spades. This would get the spade suit out of the mix when Wolff or the 3D counterpart to the Wolf 3C is employed, and make life simpler.
