I see no strong reason to prefer one over the other. If you do, can you please explain why?

If it would be a splinter without the double, as it should be, I can't see any strong reason to change its meaning to something else after a double, which took away no bidding room and reduced the likelihood that we were dealt a really long spade suit.

My usual rule with my p is "if they double and you don't know what things mean, assume they are the same as they'd be without the double".

If you are playing splinters than it definitely should be a splinter.

If you aren't playing splinters, then it should be a preempt showing 7 or 8 ♠s.

The weak jump shift bid would be 2 ♠.
