1 was 11-16 unbalanced with 4+ diamonds

Agree with 4? What do you do now?

Certainly temping to get the torture over with and bid 7 right now. But in a forum, let's give CHO some more headaches with 5H. Too afraid of 5D being misconstrued.

I don't like showing shortness controls in partner's suit, but maybe this is the time to do it. 4 last round may have suggested playing in , but 5 now must be a control cue.

In my book when you have a sure fit in the M you always make the cheapest cuebid available. So by bidding 4H we denied a club control and a diamond filler (if that is your agreements, AKQ of D), we are also showing great trumps since we did make a slam try vs a limited hand. So 5D at this pts should show a void (unless you have some really advanced agreemants for some sort of LTTC asking for a H cards.)

Note that here its likely partner has a H void (why did he bid 5C rather than RKC ? when we have controls in all the suits (except maybe diamonds) ?

Bottom line is we never let that difference of opinion interfere with anything."

I would bid 5 to show my shortness and it is not close. Must this be a void? I hope so, but I am not convinced yet.
Kind Regards

OK, as most people suggested, I bid 5. Partner responded 5. Now what?

6 to confirm that this is a void, I'm known to have no club control, so really have to be this good in the majors. My one worry is that partner has xxxx, QJ, something, AKQ and we're in a grand on a finesse, but partner hasn't used blackwood, so is probably shapelier than that.

Well, apparently I'm not the only one missing this grand, that's good I guess.

Assuming that we are sure that 5D is showing a void, i dont think i like 5S, sure the AQ of D look like ugly waste but the club void is huge and QJT of H is worth a lot. Partner made a slam try vs 11-16 with a void in D and nothing in clubs.

Axxxxx
Kxx
--
xxxx

AJxxx
Axxx
--
xxxx

QJxxxx
Axxx
---
xxx

these hands make decent slam and i dont think he can have less than this for his 4H slam try. Also note that if your style is to RKC when you can rather than make a 5 level cuebid, the 5 level cuebid always implies a void (or is specifically asking for a control not possible here) so that 5S denies a H control and implies the club void, if so south has to make a try for 7 wich north will easily accept.

Tough and interesting hand. Also note that in a limited opening style i would bid 4C (showing a void) not 3S my hand make a decent game vs Axxxx and nothing else.
