Thx everyone for their support, I imagine we won't get much while we're here (only because we're playing the home team of course!)

They're going to have to play those 128 boards really fast.

I wish I could have reset mine - I would gladly go to bed right now and wake up around 7:30 to watch the 2nd and 3rd segments. I can't even watch the 3rd segment tomorrow if it's at 21:30 UTC+1, since I'll be in class!!!

Borrow a laptop and bring it to class? Your instructor will understand....

Go Justin! Gogogogogo.

Doesn't qualify me to say im a WORLD CHAMPION, I think if I did people would rightfully laugh at me. I would always qualify it with world junior champ, world senior champ, or world womens champ if it was a restricted event.

But yeah, its definitely something, being the best at something in your age group is a big achievement that I am proud of.

Heh, I've been going to bed at 145 or so with the audio commentary on and catching the 1st 16 boards before sleep. And then I'm usually up in time to catch the last few boards of the 3rd set.

And I've been going to bed at 145 with ESPN radio streaming the world series, and get up in the morning to watch BBO. It's a great time for streaming entertainment online.

They already played round of 16, and half of quarterfinals.
I found it quite surprising that it took us 150 hands to determine the 16 teams qualifying, but only 24 boards to determine wich team goes on to quarterfinals, but there was no time to do anything better, since at the start only 8 teams would go over swiss round.

I found it quite surprising that the format of an event could be changed half way through the competition.

It's interesting that it took a couple of days for the organisers to realise they had 150+ teams in the field. Also, the level of entry wasn't really that abnormally large compared to 2007 (146 teams) and 2005 (134 teams). I suspect that the fact that several of the "big name" teams were quite a distance off qualifying at the half-way point may have had something to do with it. In Australia we call this practice "moving the goal posts after the game has started".

Reminds me of the 2007 world mixed pairs scandal in Turkey, where the field for the final was enlarged after the result from the semi final had been posted.

Aside from the very dubious procedure I agree that 16 qualifying teams was much more reasonable in this Transnationals.

I found it more surprising that the format of the match for 3rd/4th in the BB, VC and SB could be changed because a captain's meeting wanted it changed.

I think the Blunt team is the only top 8 team that lost their round of 16 match. It is odd to change the format partway through.
