I made the uninspired 6D bid:

2C! = GF and Club suit

Partner thought long and hard about "correcting" to 6NT because of his stellar Ht suit.... but in the end passed 6D .

You should try to go slower, 2 over 2, 4 over 3 but in the end it'll be your partner's decision to play the highest scoring small slam. Of course by going slower you make it easier for him to choose NT.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

you should try and get to 7 from north, 6NT is for pussies :P (Ok, 7 is not that great now I look further)

south should raise 2 to 3 and then keep bidding. But I think both players have extra top tricks they won't be able to show in a natural system.

I would also pass 6D because it is definitely not an invitation to correct strain or raise to 7. The auction was not constructive and there was no reason why it was not kept constructive, slower.

You should bid 3 over 2 and go forward from there (ie, just keep bidding as instructed by Fluffy).

Or, perhaps you should bid 2NT (waiting) if you had some detailed understanding on how to follow up over 2NT. This way you could check for a fifth diamond, or a sixth heart. (for what it is worth, Martens recommends over 2NT, that 3 shows the 5th diamond, and 3 shows the 6th heart, and with 1=5=4=3 rebid 3, with 3=5=4=1 rebid 3 and 2=5=4=2 3NT.

Quite a lot of people round my way play that 1x-1y-2m-4m shows 0-1 in partners suit first suit in a slam try with 4 or more support for openers suit. That would work well here.

Sure, but 3 doesn't exactly deny a hand like this.

6 is awful. It is a bid made by people that do not trust their partner, or trust themselves to understand partner's calls after 3.

Apparently as we have seen in another thread, it also includes people with about 15,000 mps.

Back in my old days I've once bid a slam like this, in the 4-3 fit, with a relay system. It was nice.

As to the present case, obviously 3 or 4 would have been much better than the straight shoot at slam.

Without going into details, I have a method for Opener to show "extras" ( 15+ hcp ) and no 4 cards with either 2D ( showing 5+/4+ ) or a direct 2NT bid over 2C!.
Thus, from the "math", Responder with his 19 hcp knows slam is imminent ( ... can't be missing both an A and a K ... just one or the other at most ). The question then is whether you have the small slam or grand:
1H - 2C!
2D! - 4D! ( Minorwood )
??
..4NT! ( 2 - Q ) >> 6NT ( when missing either A or K, Opener will have enough "stuff" in or for 12 tricks )
..4H! ( have all 3 missing key cards ) >> make a K-ask and Opener, with that A K Q J, will bid 7NT.
