In a separate conversation with Rain, he confirms that a tournament counts towards your TCR if and only if you get seated in that tournament. So, if you do not get seated in an Express tourney because you are subbing in another tourney when the Express starts, registering for the Express does not count against your TCR. However, if you are away from your computer of otherwise distracted when your Express starts and you get replaced by a robot after having been seated, this does count against your TCR.
