Seems I have done a good job describing my hand. Do I not trust partner to do the right thing here?

Pass. Our extra diamond length, plus partner's 3N makes it likely that we suffer a diamond ruff or 2 in spades, and there doesn't appear to be a large reason to override partner's choice.

The key interesting question is why did partner bid 3C at all? Pass or 3NT are viable alternatives. Pass if interested in a Hearts bid if there is no 2 major showing initial bid. I assume double is penalty.

ok, was just wondering, I passed and was down 2 from the start with 4 cold.

I was worried about partner's possible spade holdings, if he has singleton maybe we belong in spades, if he has void, well, 3NT might not be funny, but then we have J wich could easilly be an entry.
