Ok BBo have struck again--------Im raising this subject again.
VU-GRAPH

Have just been watching lithuania v ????? and the commentators, announced the Final will be between Monaco-Lithuania.Well done all.
Same commentator stated see you all at 1600 hrs. what does that mean, obviously the commentator knows, im in China at present time now1945 hrs.
Hong Kong time-myproblem is where is the match played coming from, and assume the final will be the same place, so they must be+- GMT. ... .. Gmt=Greenwich Mean time-world wide--all airlines, emergency services, use it, why cannot BBO,then all commentators can oblige and not create confusion,if one looks at the schedule, it does not imply, as to times (where/what is their base line) in relation to gmt +- ?????????????
regards any seconders??

I think that the schedule uses the computer's local time. Not the commentators though. I agree that using GMT would simplify things.

Why here rather than the Vugraph Issues forum? Is this really a general bridge issue?

Commentators are human, not machines, they make mistakes. Kind of like people who put messages in the wrong forum.

Some commentators are better, they give the time in several representative timezones, e.g. they'll say something like "Next session at 1600 GMT, 1000 in New York, 0700 in California, 0700 in Tokyo."

Unless the commentator says "in 30 minutes" or something similar I always use the BBO vugraph schedule because it automatically shows my time zone.

It's true I do! But everyone knows their own time zone with regards to GMT; there is not really another frame of reference.

I think that "nobody does" is closer to the truth. (That means that I think that less than 50% of the people know what GMT time it is when they look at their watch.) I think that you are overestimating the importance of GMT. It mainly is of interest to scientists.

You said that there is not really another frame of reference, but that is not true. NOW is a universal and intuitive reference: When time is indicated as d days, h hours, m minutes, s seconds from now literally everybody with a watch knows at what time that will be in his or her time zone.
