Table 1 I would take HA, ruffing finesse against HK, then KD (S ruffs can wait and that was close, but it a top S gets trumped I will have an extra one in dummy anyway).

Table 2 as S my bad choices of bids made partner X a contract supposing a hand I did not have, including more points (the ones W forgot they had during the bidding). So I am not sitting at 4HX and would end up in 5D potentially Xed by anger. But as E déclarer I probably go down, DA, D ruff and H to K planning to drop a sg Q. Well, S bidding got me too.

Is all this in some parallel universe where Michaels does not exist?

Michaels would be awful. This hand is clearly, imo, worth bidding do as to show at least 11 of your cards and your exceptional playing strength. 2D, expecting competition, then spades as often as needed up to and including 4S. Indeed, I would have pulled partners double of 4Hvto 4S

Can we zone in on West, table 1. appollo1201 says, "West forgot they had points"
What more should West do?

Open 1, if you count this as 10 there is little hope for you

Open 1 :o
This is an auto opening in 3rd seat but I wouldn't in 1.2
My partner's already think I am super aggressive and would not expect this hand.
When you open this, does your partnership have a method to put on the breaks?

I wouldn't open 1 in 1st or 2nd either although it would take little more for me to do so - one more black card for example.

I was refereeing to table 2, the 2H bid was a bit conservative, but they recovered when partner made a move.
