Rho opens 1D (usually unbalanced) and you hold

You call 2NT which you play as intermediate values plus LHO passes and partner calls 3H
Now what

I'm a bit surprised that 3H came around to me, where are the spades and the other diamonds?
Now I control-bid 3S fixing trumps in hearts and showing slam interest.

2C, not 2NT
Not an intermediate hand
Not an intermediate hand
What is 2C, forcing?
I double, and bid 4D/3H , or 6H depending on where and with whom I am playing

Look at my hand, no spades, no diamonds
That means someone bids
That means someone bids
You've got more trust in your oppos and partner than I have

I guess 2N is Unusual.
I'd start control bidding with 3♠ (has to be shortage). This also implies extra shape given the intermediate values, say 13~17 & at worst 6 mod. losers?

WIDR I think this is a mistaken attitude... trust yourself, your partner and the system, even if the oppos are Meckstroth-Rodwell or you are mentoring a beginner or having a bad day.
I want to make a forcing bid, this hand is too good for 2C. I'm not passing responsibility to my partner or the opponents to bid it for me.

You have a huge and revealing hand in the context. The suggestion of 2♣ was not unreasonable if the agreements about 2NT are those described in OP.
In any case trust your partner.

You could bid 5D, you could bid 6H (high road), or you could bid 4H (low road).
I guess I would go with 5D and pass 5H, ..., worst of both worlds.
The main problem will be reaching partners hand.
With kind regards
