The game is setup and running ok, when the players enter their numbers in the Bridge mates we get 'no name available' however we can pull in the names to ACBL Scor just fine.
It appears the database is corrupt and can be restored from ACBL Score.
Any tips or warnings before we do this 😀
Thanks

Depends on how you have your BM database set up. Start up Bridgemate Control Software (from the Start Menu, NOT from ACBLScor's BMS) and go to Tools/Options/General/Scoring Program, and look to see if "Load player database after BMS command" is checked.
If you get the information from acblscor on BMS (yes, it is checked), then something's weird, it should work. Which you probably should do as you probably don't have 250 000 players in your ACBLScor database (and loading 5000 takes 5 seconds). Since it's loaded every time, you should be able to delete the *Bridgemate* database no problem and let it run. DO NOT DELETE ACBLScor\DBASE\PLAYERN.DAT!
If you have out-of-band loaded the BM database (not checked, but you pressed the "Load tournament database" button on that same option screen), then you should absolutely be able to delete it and reload it.
One issue I have seen is that it wants to put the BM Database it creates in your user's AppData, which is great (except that microsoft thinks user's home directories should always be on C:\, and then encourages programs to dump all kinds of stuff into those home directories (well, AppData in those home directories) which is a recipe for disaster, but that's a rant for another day), but if there's another user on the computer, it won't be able to see that database. And, if there's no BMPlayerDB.mdb file existing, it won't load one, so you can't just change the directory in BM options to somewhere sane (like ACBLScor\DBASE) and regen the db, you have to copy the AppData one first.
But you're good playing around with the *Bridgemate* player database (BMPlayerDB.mdb), as long as you don't delete anything in ACBLScor\DBASE or \PLAYER.

Since posting this and reaching out to local Directors, I've heard it is a widespread problem.
