[Bugfix] my hopes were momentarily raised.

Are there any plans to fix forums, it has become near-unusable recently.

"100% certain that many excellent players would disagree. This is far more about style/judgment than right vs. wrong." Fred

Not really. The forum software is a lonely stepchild. It's an old, unsupported version of a third-party package.

It's not clear to us what has changed that has caused it to become so unstable.

One important change (that may still yet be part of the problem) was identified and thoroughly described (and proved) by smerriman. Did you ever fix or try to fix that original "forum bug"? As I recall, it involved rolling back a web update, not modifying the forum software.

But the current instability of access seems likely to be a different issue because it often happens on first attempt to enter the forum, before doing anything let alone opening or reply ing to a post. I find it hard to believe this cannot be investigated and diagnosed, or that it has anything to do with the forum software (which as you say is old and stable).
One way to investigate this might be to create a temporary entry page at https://www.bridgebase.com/forums
containing a button to enter the forum.
That way we could see when it blows up and whether the forum was involved at all.
