Playing the The OS 2 showing 5+4+ limited, but on this occasion I think 4 is warranted.

Michaels also a possibility not playing The OS

2D

This should be forcing, showing a 5th club, denying 3 spades.
If 2D is NF, bid 3D, but I would go with 2D as forcing.

If East bids 2H, South can show the fit with either 3C or 4C,
if you have agreed that 2NT over 2H is Lebensohl style, all the better.
With kind regards

2D (or 3D) is fine, when it comes back to South he needs more than a simple raise in clubs.

As East I would be choosing between 4 and 2 for my first bid, but with hearts so much better I think it's 4.

As South.. I guess the "4 was a transfer to 4" joke applies here.

West pass vulnerable.

North.. am I willing to force to slam with 5? Is 4NT the minors rather than Blackwood in spades? I have no idea to either. Might be a huge misfit, so I'll go low with 5.

East pass, I already made my choice.

South.. no way of knowing there's no heart loser. 5+1 it is :(

If East starts with 2 it's probably easier to find slam after South starts with a penalty double and North reverses into diamonds, East is going to slow down knowing the spades aren't working.

I have no idea how, but 2 pairs got to 6C
11 pairs played 5C and one NS played dead 5HE-2

When I saw the OP, I was quite convinced that I would choose 2 as my first action.

However, I now agree with you that bidding 4 is merited due to the stark difference in suit quality.
