Sir Keir (and Deputy Rayner) promises to step down if his "permitted" work drinks "out" from public health is found to be against the rules

Edit apologies I believe it's called "Beergate"

This is all really awkward. The local police commissioner is from his party. 9 policemen from that area got done for doing pretty much exactly what he did (£200 fines and reprimands from their employer), which most people feel was incredibly harsh.

What he did is orders of magnitude less severe than what Boris did, but IMO worse than what Rishi Sunak did, and they both got fined.

I think offering to resign is admirably ethical but puts the police in something of a bind

Maybe Sir Keir has had enough already :)
