I usually open 1NT with a balanced 16 count and 5 Spades. On this hand, most of the field opened 1S and ended up defending the BOTs in their 2-2 Spade fit. So my 1NT down 3 did not get a very good score. This hand was played in 2S-3 by West 11 times.
