6 is explained as 5+s 4+s 18+HCP 18-TP.

How can you have 18+HCP, 5+4+ shape, and yet no more than 18TP?

Some of your HCP may be tied up in doubletons. In that case the shortage points get discounted.

Presumably the 18- Total points is the upper limit of a 2D overcall, and the 18+ HCP is the requirement to punt 6H opposite the values shown by North.

Whether it would still do this type of explanation where there is clearly no possibility of overlap, that is an interesting one.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

I think Jack is right. Wildly distributional hands are hard for human players to evaluate, much more so for GIB. Veterans here will recall a hand GIB held with 7-6 in the minors, both headed by the AKJ I believe. And GIB allowed the opponents to play in 4 of a major!

Jack is correct that the upper limit for 2 is 18 total points. Michaels does not appear to have an upper limit.

I'd like to suggest that West should bid 4, not 3. I wonder what that would show in GIBberish.

After 2,if West bid
3 = Free jump raise -- 4+,8-hcp,7+total points.
4 = Preemptive raise -- 4+,9-hcp,6+total points.
How many differences are there between 3 and 4 ?
I think even advanced robots are difficult to deal with properly the selection between 3 and 4.
