I'm curious about the extent of the sanction against President Trump and his family and assets and freedom of speech. To me, I am not Trump supporter or MAGA in any way at all, but it seems mass overreach of both corporate and various government organisations in a corrdinated attack against one eneity (albeit a powerful one), with huge ramifications for the whole world. We are all subject in some way to what happens in the USA over this Trump issue and other related issues. Is it all phony or what. It seems both maniuplative and dangerous in many ways. Why should we even have to doubt our future, the futuure of our own lives, businesses and freedoms. I dont think we should have to, but I am
This is broadly phrased. I will respond tin a few ways.
1. The big issue of course was Trump addressing followers who then became a mob and attacked the capitol and the people in it. I am very confident that if I had done such a thing I would now be in jail with little hope of being out any time soon. I am fine with that. What Trump did has never come under the umbrella of protected speech nor should it.
2. Organizations such as the PGA have decided to keep their distance. What took them so long? Long before Trump became president I would trust him with neither my wallet nor my daughter. Well, granddaughter, but you get the idea. A list of people who regret ever doing as much as saying hello to DT is pretty long I think.
3. Now about social media, banned twitter accounts, banned Facebook postings etc. Here I confess some confusion. I have never tweeted and while I look at Facebook sometimes if my wife Becky says there is something up about the grandkids, that's about it. Of course I am posting thoughts here, so I cannot claim total virginity. If Facebook and twitter were to disappear overnight I would applaud. But they won't. I confess to some unease at someone at Twitter saying yes we will let Ken post this thing, but no we won't let him post that thing. We can only post the truth? What is Truth? Seems like someone else once said that, probably also when trying to slip past responsibility. Hillary Clinton is running a pedophile ring out of a pizza shop? No one would believe that Or do they? Also: Someone called to tell me that my social security number was used illicitly in Texas and I will be in legal danger if I hand up. Oh my, what shall I do? Still, I recently replaced an old hard drive in the computer, there was some weird issue with getting my computer to acknowledge the existence of the printer that was four feet away, so I called Dell and let some guy I never had met take control of my computer and fix the problem He did, and I am relaxed about the possibility he has a nefarious scheme. My point? Do I have one? Well, the Clinton pedophile ring in the pizza shop never existed, I am confident that my social security number was not involved in a crime in Texas, but I am also confident of the Dell guy. But can I prove the first two are scams and the third was legitimate assistance?
I am fine with banning Trump, from Twitter, from Facebook and from the planet, and I would be fine with banning a Dem equivalent, but I do believe that there are some issues here that we need to think about. For one thing, I am no longer young, but my brain does appear to still be functioning. Well, sort of. How do we protect those in greater peril? I don't have a good answer.
I am unsure which if any of these issues are what you were getting at.
