basically, after Michaels is doubled, advancer shows (by his suit length/desire to play):
p=♣>♠>♦, after which overcaller redoubles to show 6♦+5♠, in case that changes partner's mind.
xx=♦>♠>♣

2♥ shows spades and an unknown minor.
- After (1♥)-2♥-(X)-??: Pass = NAT, 5+ ♥. XX = ASK for m. 2♠ = NAT. 2N = REL Strong. 3♣/♦ = S/O 5+ cards.
- After (1♥)-2♥-(X)-p-(p)-??: Pass = NAT ♥ tolerance. XX = ART 5035 , 2♠ = 6+ ♠, 2N = ART 5053. 3♣/♦ = NAT.

Perhaps the redouble should be something like 2 cards in Spades (in case CHO accidentally has six of them), with a 5+minor. Not sure what partner should do with that information holding only 5 spades...maybe one-under his minor. 2NT=clubs, 3C=diamonds.
Making all this crud up, of course -- having never used that redouble.

I used to play this as "pls bid your minor". In this context 3m = nat to play, 2NT = relay as usual, pass = can stand playing 2NT.
1M 2M dbl pass
pass rdbl
If pass is as above, rdbl = extras.

To WE, if you use XX to ask for the minor then I would suggest using this to replace the relay, with responses of: 2♠ = ♣ + min; 2NT = ♦ + min; 3m = that suit + max. That frees up 2NT for something more useful than the relay. You could obviously play this as a variant of the previous scheme with Pass = clubs and 2NT = diamonds, just losing a little space in the latter case.

xx = preference for the higher suit (so better diamonds than clubs). Inferentially you prefer spades to clubs, or else you would just ask for partner's minor
Similarly by overcaller.
Although this method was created to cope with emergencies, it still works when you have a good hand. It avoids the embarrassment of playing in a 5-2 spade fit with e 5-5 diamond fit available.

Say you had a weak hand with 0391 shape. Would you not start with a XX to play in 3♦ despite not preferring spades to clubs?

Nobody has mentioned what (1H) 2H (dbl) 3D would mean. I always assumed it meant we wanted to play in 3D, and that 3C instead would mean we wanted to play in 3C...no pass/correct since 2NT asks for minor. With your 0391 hand, if you want to play in 3D it would probably be a good idea to get the suit in there right now.
