Depends on your overcalling style, for us, the non exclusive 2 over 1 shows a bigger hand than it does for most people and the E hand is well worth 2 or 2N.

Vul over vul with a trusted partner, I'd prob venture 2N on E's hand (I don't like 2 with a small XX in s, where W's liable to return). On somewhere like BBO, I'd prob just pass and stay fixed.

East has gotta bid here. 2NT looks clear and West has the world's easiest 3NT bid.

In my style, W underbid and his partner didn't go on further.

I don't see anyone passing here. I would bid 2NT and think it is clear cut. Passing is a joke.

So you have to double on this hand ? how are you going to like the auction going 1-X-3-P-P or possibly worse 1-X-3-4-P ?

East has a pretty clear 2 NT call.

West has a made 2 level vulnerable overcall which ought to show some reasonably decent cards. As it turns out, West has a good hand bordering on a hand where you double first. But I think concerns about the type of bidding problem Cyberyeti cites tips the balance toward a simple overcall rather than a double.

If West has less, it still should be enough for 2 NT have a decent play. 2 NT seems as good a spot as any to play given East holding unless West has bid on nothing but junk.

No he does not! He has a 2C overcall.

:) still have to bid 2n because sometimes even the most "optimistic" overcallers
actually have the values they need to make their bid and how else will they learn
to quit overbidding?
