West bids 3♦ if possible. He'll also double an artificial diamond bid. East raises to 4♦ (or 5♦) if possible whenever west bids 3♦ or doubles a diamond bid.

Seems to be easy enough if using a maxi-splinter convention. It gets more difficult if East raises to 5♦ voluntarily (as they possibly should).
1♠ - 2NT (mini or maxi splinter);
(3♦) - P - (4♦) - X (maxi + short ♦);
followed by RKCB.
Even better if 3♥ is always a maxi-splinter rather than a two-way call (as I used to play it). Then you can show the void below 4♠ having cut out the interference.

1♠-3♥(single suited rock crusher or HHxxx♥, Hxxx♠ and values for a GF H=AKQ)
3♠-4♣(cue agreeing spades guaranteeing the second type)
4♥(high card cue in partner's suit)-6♦ void confirming club cue is the A
7♠

We play void splinters they make it easy. One possible route is:
1♠ Pass 4♦ Dbl
4NT 5♦ 5♥ Pass
5NT Pass 6♥ Pass
7♠ All Pass
1♠ Pass 4♦ Dbl
4NT 5♦ 5♥ Pass
5NT Pass 6♥ Pass
7♠ All Pass

Is the South hand really within your splinter range Wayne? That is great here but might be difficult on hands where North has a closer call on whether to move forward or not.

1♠-2♥ : natural; natural FG
(3♦)-3♠-(4♦)-5♦ : natural showing extra spade length; diamond exclusion
6♣-6♦ : 2 + Q outside diamonds : we have all the keys, you have anything else for 7?
7♠ : yep
I'm not sure if S should bid 7 after 6♣ or ask for something else, but if N knows that we have all the key cards and the void in diamonds that Ax of hearts and Kx of clubs must be golden if S asks again.
