Expert partner, not a lot of discussion beyond 2/1 GF. LHO deals at IMPs:

1 (precision) - Pass - 1NT (semi-forcing) - Dbl
2 - 3 - 3 - Pass
Pass - 4 - Pass - ???

Strongly agree with first pass and I'd pass again.

I'm a little confused by this auction.

Partner is presumably 5-4 (at least) in the minors. This gives opponents 18 cards in the majors. Why aren't they bidding more?

I can only think of one reason: LHO has a light opener with heart support and was hoping to buy it at 3. If that's the case, we're not going to buy it at 4, in which case I'd better bid 5 now, unless you think that opps will make a better judgement about bidding 5 or not with less information! (Or you think opps are going to pass 4 when 4 is actually making their way.)

I agree with pass over 3 and i would bid 5 now.

Something does not add up in this auction, somebody has at least 1-2 card more major suit than his expected minimum length for his bidding. Let them try to recover from it at 5 level and the chances of being doubled now is less than later over their 4M, unless you are willing to sit on 4M.

I bid clubs instead of diamonds because i suspect pd might be bidding on something like 4144. Which means we would probably be in much better shape by passing now as Justin said. Oh well....how did we do ?

Pass was selected at the table. Partner's hand:

Jxxx
-
AKxxx
Jxxx

Five clubs and five diamonds both make. The problem from partner's side of the table is not knowing the amount of wastage in hearts, nor who has the singleton spade.

Did E have 8 hearts or did his pd not support with 3-4 card hearts ?

I think the heart bidder was 2722 and opener 6322, but opener also had a pretty bad hand (was opened 2S at the other table).
