IMP, robot tourney, best hand South.

I would have expected 3♣ to show a ♥ fit, but perhaps GIB does not play that.

But even if 3♣ does not show a ♥ fit personally I think that 2♣ is sufficient, with 1N and 2N both scoring above 3♣ (come to think of it not sure what the best bid is, other than that 3♣ ain't it)

3♠ by West is then "courageous" but perhaps in context of the announced meaning of 3♣ not so bad, but I am swimming in the dark here slightly. Perhaps it is atrocious.

I don't understand how 3♣ by a passed hand can show 14+ total points.

Well he has his bid in that regard Counting 2 "total points" for a singleton in partner's suit is perhaps uppish
