Purely out of academic interest, if your sole sad aim in life were to amass BBO masterpoints as rapidly as possible, (ie maximise the ratio of masterpoints earned to number of hands played) would you favour any particular style of qualifying tourney over another?

Factor in the cost, so that your obective is to maximise the ratio of master points earned to dollars spent, how would that affect your answer (a) if your disregard the prospect of prize money to be netted off against entry fee, or (b) taking anticipated prize money into account?

As regards the second main question, my expectation would be to avoid ACBL tourneys (assuming that I don’t also want ACBL Masterpoints) on the grounds that ACBL would be taking a cut from the entry fee.

As regards the first main question, perhaps you would concentrate on ACBL tourneys in the expectation of easy pickings.

To a degree, one might expect the recommendation to vary with time: An easy pickings event may attract more astute players by market forces and so stabilise the market.
Psych (pron. saik): A gross and deliberate misstatement of honour strength and/or suit length. Expressly permitted under Law 73E but forbidden contrary to that law by Acol club tourneys.

Psyche (pron. sahy-kee): The human soul, spirit or mind (derived, personification thereof, beloved of Eros, Greek myth).
Masterminding (pron. mPosted ImagesPosted ImagetPosted Imager-mPosted ImagendPosted Imageing) tr. v. - Any bid made by bridge player with which partner disagrees.

"Gentlemen, when the barrage lifts." 9th battalion, King's own Yorkshire light infantry,
2000 years earlier: "morituri te salutant"

"I will be with you, whatever". Blair to Bush, precursor to invasion of Iraq

the free express tourney gives you easy masterpoints for free (oops Diana must be right).

$0.25 matchpoints robo duplicate gives you easy masterpoints slightly faster but it costs some money.

if you want to make a profit probably the $1.00 robot reward is the best for most of us but some will find it easier to make a profit in the robot rebate. depends on the kind of skills you have.

The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

Free Express tourneys do not award masterpoints
