4 is led, you try low from dummy (maybe not best) RHO rises with A to play another wich you win in dummy.

I i lead the club K at trick three am I not basically cold? Wast cannot have an ace to go with his apparently four diamonds, so east will win, and whatever he continues I am happy? I only need to work out if its safe to ruff the second club high. :)

Edit: so I play the club K, rho wins, if he returns anything other than a trump I have trivially won, so he plays a trump, I win with the ace and ruff a club. Now I run the ten of spades, rho wins, and if he has no trump its all over, so presume he returns a trump. If he has two trumps I win, and ruff a club. If clubs are 3-3 its all over. If lho has four clubs he has 1354 and the finesse is marked. If he has two trumps he has 2254 and I lose only to KJ stiff.

If East has two clubs, 3352 or 4252 with both KJ of spades, I don't see anyway to win.

So I win: when trumps are 4-0 or 3-1 and east has the club ace, when trumps are 22 or 13 or 04 and rho has four clubs. (excepting only when he holds KJ tight of spades), else when clubs are three three, or when one of the spade honours onside.

That's putting it lightly.

I have lots of sympathy for these errors. I mean it makes no difference double dummy, east just ducks the diamond ace to trap you in dummy. Job done :). When i think about hands I almost always miss these chances where its harder for the defence to see than it is for you as declarer, and they might well do the wrong thing.
