As for Fox News, are Americans really unable to realise the difference between a programme reporting the news and one trying to shape public opinion?

Journalism in the old sense of "objective unbiased reporting" seems to be a dead art.

This is not a coincidence.

News, opinion, entertainment, and advertisement have been so thoroughly mixed and blended that it can be difficult for even intelligent, alert people to notice which is which. A program could be any mix of these elements, and you really have to pay close attention and think about it. The main result for me is that I watch very little TV other than sports.

Probably one of the above, but maybe not.

And so it goes… :P

Robert Heinlein, speaking of life in the voice of Lazarus Long, said "Certainly the game is rigged, but so what? If you don't play, you can't win."
