I am fairly certain that the Zamboni is a result of the mutation of a street sweeping machine passed on to a flock of snow blowers.

But how did this post come about? I don't see any arguments for evolution or intelligent design
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

It seems that Winston is describing gene-swapping, not strictly Darwinian evolution.

Interesting that the Pope has gotten out in front on this issue: Zambonis have evolved according to God's plan

Quote

Benedict and his predecessor John Paul have been trying to shed the Church's image of being anti-science, a label that stuck when it condemned Galileo for teaching that the earth revolves around the sun, challenging the words of the Bible.

Galileo was rehabilitated and the Church now also accepts evolution as a scientific theory and sees no reason why God could not have used a natural evolutionary process in the forming of the human species.

The Catholic Church no longer teaches creationism -- the belief that God created the world in six days as described in the Bible -- and says that the account in the book of Genesis is an allegory for the way God created the world.

But it objects to using evolution to back an atheist philosophy that denies God's existence or any divine role in creation. It also objects to using Genesis as a scientific text.

Slickly avoiding being iced by Zambonis.

The infliction of cruelty with a good conscience is a delight to moralists — that is why they invented hell. — Bertrand Russell

I've always thought the Chinese technological evolution has seriously lagged because their language's inherent lack of acronyms does not allow them to express technical ideas at an efficient rate...
If no one comes from the future to stop you from doing it then how bad a decision could it really be?

I'm not sure if this is a compliment or an insult, but my gut reaction is that it represents an odd hybrid, the elusive missing link: complisult.

Zamboni - is that Italian or Sicilian? I'm thinking Sicilian because of the nature of getting "iced".
