Here a rather unusual problem from today's christmas individual at my club.

You hold JTxxx Axxx x xxx. LHO opens 1, partner bids 1, RHO passes. You decide to stick your neck out with 1. Fortunately, this is raised to 2 and everyone passes.

RHO leads the 9. Your play?

Different in that we don't get to see partner's hand?
Yay for the "Ignored Users" feature!

I forbid a club lead.
... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Bonus question: your partner this round is a little old lady who doesn't play half as well as you. Same decision? ;)

I call the director first, and then I forbid a club lead.

I always say glp in this situation! Maybe I'm a little bit lazy.
... and I can prove it with my usual, flawless logic.

I call the director, then probably forbid a club lead.

My first reaction was  , but then I understood and I'd table dummy.

Also, he rates to not have a heart void when he leads the 3.

Don't you have the option to accept the lead, but play it yourself?

"I forbid a club lead."

i dislike taking advantage of this random rule anyway but this is a christmas individual. calling to and force lho to make a foolish lead won't make this evening better...

to decide what site will play this contract better is enough advantage for me, i dont see why it should be played from my side. beeing dummy i could get a beer and enjoy the evening, but the club is located in cologne so i wont get good beer too, damn

Actually it was in Leverkusen, and there was no beer at all, only wine. ;)

In this particular case, it turned out that forbidding a club lead was good, but I was wondering whether anyone had thoughts about how to decide this kind of situation.

in my local club they are very common, and from the 5 options I'd say I pick the best one roughly 20% of the time

Thanks for the compliment, you seem to have quite a high opinion of my play! ;)
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.
