So, here's my idea. Two sets of 3-D glasses, each with only one side of the normal 3-D glasses, copied on both sides. Then broadcast shows using either "right side" or "left side" viewing as an option.

Then, broadcast the sound from any show via radio signals as an option, on two possible frequencies.

The end result:

You and your spouse can watch the TV but each see and hear a different show!
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

Comment 1. 3D significantly degrades the video feed
Comment 2. TVs are cheap

(For what its worth, I really like Avatar in 3D. Same with How to Train your Dragon. However, alot of the 3D pictures feel forced. It feels like the 3D is being added to improve the revenue stream by offering something novel rather than a serious attempt to improve quality)

So, here's my other idea. Don't get married.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

You could simulcast Fox News and CNN on the same channel, and have a switch on the glasses to choose right wing or left wing. :)

But, you are missing the true beauty of this.

If you replace 3-D glasses with 3-D contact lenses, and get a "hearing aid" to pick up the signal from the other channel, you can pretend to enjoy the Lifetime Channel movie.
