3.  That doesn't commit us to slam, or to clubs.  The thought of concealing four-card club support on this auction horrifies me.

Agreed

And consider AKxx x Ax AKxxxx surely nothing special about this hand on the auction. Do we really want to suggest to partner that our hand is so bad that we may be passing 3? xxx KQxx Jxx xxx would be a 2N call....and pass 3.

I agree that we can bid 2N intending to bid again....but...what are we bidding and why would partner understand it?

Surely we can't bid 2N then 4? Why waste an entire level of bidding to force beyond 3N on this hand?

Surely we can't bid 2N then 3N? Well, maybe we can...but do we have agreements as to the difference between this and an immediate 3N? (I would: the slow route shows doubt, the fast route shows both reds very well stopped and no fit and no slam interest). And how can we plan to NEVER show the club suit?

Mike! GF, not a reverse :)

Obviously 2S shows either a single suited gameforce or a gameforce with 6+ clubs and 3 hearts....

I think this joke has gone over my head.

It was a reaction to Hog's question.

Well Han, I was serious. Next time you post would you mind stating what your bids mean? Not everyone plays the same as you. Is 2S a 1 round force, gf? What? Do you play blackout over this etc etc?
By the way, quite a few people DO play this as a mini splinter, as they play that 1S is forcing so they have no need of unnecessary jumps.

Perhaps Han ought to have posted this problem in the A/E forum. Alternatively, in a non-A/E forum, and bearing in mind the wide range in skill amongst the BBF posters, he could have explained every bid.

If this happens in the future, one solution might be to wait for more experienced posters to respond. By reading their posts you might be able to pick up what the auction means.

Good luck!
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

A typically fatuous and comment by the numeric one. Just because you are only familiar with one method does not mean everyone else is.

Nobody would seriously think that I would not explain 2S if it was a mini-splinter, not even you. You know very well that 2S, when it is not alerted, shows spades, and that every other agreement is alertable.

With your question you have yet again managed to turn a thread which used to be about bridge into a thread which is about you. Not a change for the better.
and the result can be plotted on a graph.
