Interesting since 2S showed some hearts maybe we should pass... Nah, I also double.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Hi,
I would pass. We know they don't have a big spade fit, and we know that there are some hearts behind us. I would be happy if partner passed our double, but more likely we are going to turn a plus (on defense vs 2S) into a minus (in 3D), and possibly a big minus at that. Even if we aren't doubled then -300 is quite possible.

If 2S has the standard meaning - invit with H, then I think this is a clear pass.

I might have solved this with a double on the first round (12-16, no good bid), after which I would have had an easy pass.
Now I have an uncomfortable pass.

Pass has no alternative here. What would my double here show anyway - both minors?
West showed more ♥ than ♠, and willingness to play either in 2♠ or 3♥ depending on East's real suit. That means West is probably with 3♠ and 4♥ (though he could admittedly be with 2♠ and 3♥). East could well have 3♥ too, so what am I doing trying to find a 4:2 ♥ fit at level 3 vulnerable to defend against opps part score at IMPs?
That's not winning bridge, at least not in the long run. If I feel I am being robbed I should better shoot for NT hoping to find partner with ♠Ax and a perfect hand.

Playing the standard (but not very good) English defence to the Multi, a first-round double would have been 12-15 balanced or very strong; pass followed by double is for takeout, and includes any takeout double that is not "very strong". A double here could still be a pretty good hand.
If those are the methods in use, I think that this hand should either double on the first round or pass throughout.

... that would still not be conclusive proof, before someone wants to explain that to me as well as if I was a 5 year-old. - gwnn

Pass. This is a borderline minimum normally, but the fact that lefty has a couple of hearts, it's probably best to pass.
The difference between theory and practice is that in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.
