How many good reasons can you think of to duck the first spade trick

my first thought was it seems the only way to get a spade ruff,, any thoughts on this statement and any other thoughts about ducking here

In 3♣ at IMPs, my reaction is "who cares?"
You missed a laydown 3NT and the only issue is a 20 point overtrick.
However, as long as you are in 3♣, you might as well go plus. Ducking risks going down in 3C if spades are 7-1 and the long spade hand has the AK of hearts (highly unlikely, since the auction would never have died in 3♣, but it is possible).
