Scoring: IMP

1st Question: In 2nd chair, R v W, at IMP Pairs, do you open this, and if so what?

2nd Question: LHO opens a weak 2, two passes to you. Your call?

1) 1. I have no problem rebidding diamonds, and 7-4 shape is bonus. I would rather pass than preempt (by a LOT).

2) Doubleeeeeeeeee. (I am assuming I passed first round, though I would obviously still x even if I did open 1.)

1/3.

I'm allowed to have a suit that sucks.
"Gibberish in, gibberish out. A trial judge, three sets of lawyers, and now three appellate judges cannot agree on what this law means. And we ask police officers, prosecutors, defense lawyers, and citizens to enforce or abide by it? The legislature continues to write unreadable statutes. Gibberish should not be enforced as law."

(1) 1 WTP. No second choice.
(2) Abstain, if the question assumes I am a passed hand.
Double, if LHO deals and opens 2.

But doubling is not completely clear. Partner will often pass a double, and we don't have great defense. Here, I choose double because 3 is not ideal either. Partner may hope for more high cards in diamonds, and we may miss a heart fit.
By doubling at least we find the heart fit, if partner does not pass we are happy, and even if he passes the double, 2X is not a disaster yet.
That's impossible. No one can give more than one hundred percent. By definition that is the most anyone can give.

I hear opening 5D with these shapes is a big winner but I can't bring myself to do it. In fact any diamond preempt seems really wrong. I'd open 1D but wouldn't qualm with pass.

After a 2S opener this is a really easy 3D bid I think.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

Too much offense to pass. Not good enough diamonds to take the bidding too high.

In both cases I bid diamonds at the lowest available level.

1/3, I prefer a 3 opening than a pass.
