3NT looks like the most reasonable place to play.

Agree with Whereagles, this is a pretty hopeless hand.
The world would be such a happy place, if only everyone played Acol :) --- TramTicket

I prefer 2N with hands like this.

I like pard to get his suits off his chest first. This looks like an obvious 3N, but I dont want pard to pull to 4 of a black suit.

Hmm... I bid 3NT thinking it will show a stopper much more confidently than 2NT would hoping that it might discourage pard pulling more than 2NT would.

Agree. But it isn't obvious that bidding 3NT now is the safest route to end up playing there. Then again, 2NT might see us playing there.
Kind regards,
Harald

The only good excuse I can find for bidding 2NT is pard will rebid 3 on his 5116 and we might end up in a fit better than diamonds... other than that 2NT seems overly optimistic.

No one is worried that 2N is an underbid? Offline most people answered 3N.

Not at all. Misfits are to be bid conservatively.

The result of the hand is pretty irrelevant. Pard had 6142 shape with the dK and some other irrelevant cards and will pull NT to diamonds. If you had bid 2N you have an easy 3h over pard's 3d then 5d over pard's 4d. If you had bid 3n youll just raise 4d to 5.
