Has anyone heard of this method of bidding over the opponent’s 1NT opening. My partner insisted on playing it and called it Woodard.

2C shows hearts and maybe diamonds.
2D shows spades and maybe hearts.
2H shows clubs and maybe spades.
2S shows spades and diamonds.
2NT shows the minors.
Dbl shows either diamonds or clubs and hearts.

We have had some good results with this method. Maybe the opponents are confused by it. I don’t know.

What does maybe mean? That is not a real explanation. Does it mean that 2 shows either or +? No wonder opps are confused...

It means either 6 cards in the suit in question, or 5 cards in the first suit and 4 in the second. If partner can't stand the suit, he bids the 'between' suit. overcaller leaves it there with the 5-4 or bids his own suit with the 6 card suit. It (almost) guarantees that you never end in a 5-1 fit.

I don't see any problems with it...

I don't think it's confusing to opps. After all, you have an ancor suit most of the times which is not the case with many NT defenses.
