Anyone have any new thoughts about the contents of this movie after Mel's little run in with the law yesterday evening?

This why he was also known as "Mad Max".

i don't know if this is a true story or not (it's probably true, there's nothing about it in snopes), but if it is i'm disappointed in gibson... i assume by the title of the thread that you're asking whether the movie is somehow tainted by this alleged incident... i'd say no...

South Park did it best. I can't add anything else!!
He's justified and he's ancient, and he drives an ice cream van.

Why would this “taint” the movie? The fact that the Passion of the Christ is rooted in a highly anti-semitic tradition was documented long before South Park... Gibson's melt down on a California freeway is nothing more than a juicy supporting data point.

The son of a well known holocaust denier made a movie based on the virulently anti-Semitic passion plays of the middle ages. I think thats “taint” enough...

I have also found that dealing with the inebriated that they tend to become more open rather than less, so core beliefs and prejudices that are revealed tend to be genuine. You have to be sober to hide your true feelings.
