July will be another very busy vugraph month with broadcasts from Brazil, China (twice), Chinese Taipei, Norway (twice), Estonia, Czech Republic, USA, and Finland (not listed yet). Broadcasts on 22 of the 31 days with frequent overlaps!

In this context, I would like to underline our comprehensive coverage of the Spingold Knockout Teams in Chicago. BBO will be there from the round of 64 and all the way through. Thanks to Rick Beye and his staff in Memphis and elsewhere for arranging this.

We expect to broadcast a selected match from the Spingold or Wagar (women) each session. One match, all day, two tables. Match conditions may dictate moving to another match at a break point.

As always, we are aiming at broadcasting from all 4 tables in the semi-finals.

I just wanted to applaud all who were involved in the Spingold VuGraph last week. This was the most extensive VuGraph coverage at any NABC to date. I think it was the first time they ever broadcast anything prior tto the semi-finals, and did an excellent job of it.

They didn't achieve their goal of broadcasting all 4 tables in the semi-finals, and this confused one viewer -- after one match was over, he came to the table I was watching, expecting to see their teammates, and couldn't understand why the other table's scores weren't in the movie. But runners were periodically bringing scores from the other room over so they could be entered into the movie and the running score updated, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Maybe next year.

My sentiments too - great coverage and a huge improvement over previous years. I couldn't watch everything over here in UK because of time differences and catching up with the Open from Hoylake but the matches were always there next morning in the BBO archive. Like this morning, I could even feel the atmosphere (via the commentary) of Versace fingering that K on bd28 of the final quarter.

I cant really express how greatful I am to BBO and all its helpers especially Roland for bringing these Vugraphs to us.

If you don't need the detailed commentary, you can view (or download) all the matches at Nikos's site:

I watched the last two segments of the semis and the final and thought the quality of the operating was outstanding. I particularly enjoyed the "colour" comments added by the operators as to table chat and player mannerisms. Well done.
Disclaimer: The above post may be a half-baked sarcastic rant intended to stimulate discussion and it does not necessarily coincide with my own views on this topic.
I bidding the suit below the suit I'm actually showing not to be described as a "transfer" for the benefit of people unfamiliar with the concept of a transfer

If you want to see the bidding and play from some of the Spingold matches in a different format (a scorecard where you can click on a board to get bidding and play from both tables for that hand), which is what USBF will be using next month for online reports from the USBC, take a look at http://kittycooper.com/Bridge/modules.php?...=Bridge_Matches. Click on the quarter that interests you (sorry, no final quarter yet) to get to the scorecard. Enjoy B)

Yes, Jan, your added description for what happened at the table really makes the match must more interesting and let us know about what the players were actually doing. This is really great.

Thanks a lot. Keep up the good work.

Thanks ;). As I explained when someone asked me why I had chosen to do the Vugraph instead of play in the final weekend team event, it's nice to do something at which you're good and which people appreciate! And I agree with the people who have commented in the thread about the World Juniors, that online Vugraph is one of the best things we can have to promote our wonderful game. As things are now, we can only have online Vugraph from NABCs if people are willing to volunteer to be Vugraph operators instead of playing.

Anywhere I could see more photos of Spingold 2006, other than those from the bulletins?
