You hold xxx Axx xxx AQxx in 1st seat, and pass. The auction proceeds:

P 1S
2C 4D (2C = 3-card drury, 4D = splinter)

What's your plan?

(You're playing imps, but it presumably doesn't matter.)

Partners splinter must be interested in bigger, better things (I am assuming this is game force). I am willing to cooperate for slam. I can hardly have a better hand (well some spade spots will be useful). But nothing in Diamonds, two aces, and a queen in a suit partner should have some cards. Cuebid, or direct 5 or blackwood, take your pick.

I don't think there is a good slam,but I'll bid 4 after PD's Splinter.

Why couldn't I edit my profile,Mr./Ms. Yellow?

IMHO: There are two possible bids 4 and 6. I would prefer 6. Partner couldn't find better hand than I have, so the slam should be cool. The 7 are far far away (say AKQxxx KQxx - Kxx he would - probably - open 2).
6 also give no information to opps, that's always good.

Hi,

4H.

I am not 100% certain that I move over 4S,
but that is probably a matter of mood, after
all partner cant expect more (even the 3card
support is known), if I make a move, I would
bid 5C.

With kind regards

I have a very good hand, I would cue 4 and if partner bids 4 continue with 5

The messages carried by the bidding are as follows:

Pass (I don't have an opening bid) 1 (I have an opening hand or close to an opening hand with at least 4 and usually 5 spades)
2 (I have about 10 points and 3 card spade support) 4 (I have slam interest if you have 10 points outside of diamonds)

Since I have 10 points outside of diamonds, and prime cards in the A of hearts and AQ of clubs I won't stop short of slam now. If slam doesn't make, either there were some really nasty breaks around or partner didn't have his splinter.

I'll cue in hearts, and carry on with 5C over 4S. If partner bids 5D after that showing a void, I'll try 5NT, GSF.

Bid an enthousiastic 4 and leave it to pard to bid blackwood. This is not a hand to mastermind :P

6 or blackwood are huge overbids, xxx of trumps is awful for slam. I bid 4 and respect whatever partner does. If I had to make the final decision I would bid 4, though slam can definitely be there which is why I'm cuebidding.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

This is a great hand and will make slam opposite a lot of normal splinters. I have three cover cards, and usually has a 4 loser hand for the splinter.

I play an extended form of RD which allows us to show 3 card and 4 card support by responder with shortness over 2. I hope pard doesn't have a hand that really should be asking instead of telling.

I'll cue 4, and I'll cue 5 over a signoff, even a slow one. If I could file a 'flight plan', I'd do so.

I hope this wasn't an ethical problem at the table with my hand cueing 4 and pard bidding a slow 4. :)
