We've been reading and compiling the issues mentioned. The focus will be on fixing bugs and making sure everyone who wants to can login and join the community. This includes issues such as forum possibly being too slow. It may not include issues like handviewer not working well on iphone - we may not be able to fix that.

After that, we'll add/enable some features, possibly add 1 new area.

And then after that, think about design matters - I believe much of the design issues reported, such as colour problems, are because of unfamiliarity with the new color palette, so it's not pressing, although we'll look at the skins someone linked. Some other design issues mentioned, like the size of boxes, could be looked into once the other stuff has been done, though it's not clear whether changes are possible.

Also, taking suggestions for titles. :)

My scroll wheel doesn't like the new forums, it has to work a lot more these days.

And where can I change my password?

FWIW, I have an iphone and the hands appear normally (if slowly). I'm still curious about the post ratings, but I guess I'm a troll for asking so many times about it. I have (for some absurd reason) a positive user rating, but I still can't rate any posts.

Gwnn, I tried to PM you the answer but might as well write it out. (Your PM box was full or something).

Reputation changes and some small setting changes will probably come very soon. Just waiting for some server issues to be settled first before making any less urgent changes.

Thank you for your answer Rain :)

I would just like to add that the mobile version looks very nice with its blueish tints and I much prefer that to the non-mobile version (with all sorts of colours). I know part of this can be just lack of familiarity but the mobile version was also unfamiliar and I instantly took a liking to it.

I did forget to mention one big improvement (which I missed the first day since people weren't using the built-in auction formatter much):

Congratulations, you've finally got the auctions in W-N-E-S format! On the old forum, we were stuck with "dealer-first" auctions that caused nonstop "which person is bidding what?" puzzles.

In case it was not yet mentioned:
If you include a suit symbol, eg by then the text clubs between [ ] is included, but this text is selected and deleted if you continue typing
It would be easier if text was not selected with cursor after last ]

First of all, apologies if this has been mentioned already somewhere in the 7 pages of this thread, but ....

Not that I intend to make use of the system for voting posts up or down, but I am just curious as to why some posts have the vote possibility embedded but others do not. Any takers?

Most things that are different just need getting used to, I think.
But along with a few other posters, I really HATE the amount of vertical space that everything takes up - both the individual replies, and the thread listing.

I agree, but if I may expand: Is there, or could we have, a file somewhere that explains this and other features? If it exists, where?

I'm not unhappy, I seldom am, but I am a bit confused, which I often am.

I'm guessing that it is the mods who you can't vote up or down - they're just gods anyway.

Nick

PS It appears you can't vote yourself up or down - but you can report yourself!

None of the hand diagrams have the vulnerability shown it seems.

You could reduce your own contribution to that problem by telling us less about your interests.

I have a minor problem >>> if I try to hide a segment of the forum clicking on (-), it doesn't work, the only action that happens is...I get to the top of the site

You'll have to tell them what Browser and version of it you are using - coz it works OK for me on a really ancient version of Firefox.

The new format will be fine once we've got used to it and a few quibbles have been fixed e.g.
  • Choice of skin (in profile). The operators can include a skin something like the old one for traditionalists.
  • Scoring method in hand diagrams.
  • Replace Word "board" with "forum" in profile choices.
  • Avators.
  • For those who want variants, you can edit the hand contents between hv tags
  • Also, notice that if you use the hand comment facility, you use less vertical space (a worry for many).
  • But this effort demonstrates that there are still a few layout problems. For example, list numbers overlap the diagram.

Your post consisted of three lines of text (in my view) and about twice that in vertical whitespace because of groups, posts, joined, gender, location and interests along with "limit bidder" a row of dots and a couple if icons. All that stuff makes for lots of vertical empty space. I think it would be nice if the default was not to show most of those things. (But, nice to have them in the profile...which you can see when you click on a name or otherwise ask to see a profile.)

Seems that we can really use Google search on the new forum.

So does that mean that if you can go up and down you are rockers?
